Mr. Bijoy Kumar Thapa is a retired Indian Army Gorkha Regiment serviceman and a passionate advocate for the development of homestay and sustainable tourism in Kumai. With his deep connection to the local community and the surrounding Himalayan landscape, he has played an important role in introducing Kumai as an emerging offbeat tourism destination.
After serving the nation in the Indian Army, Mr. Thapa dedicated his efforts to developing tourism opportunities in his home region. He became the first person in Kumai to take the initiative to promote homestay and travel tourism, with the vision of introducing visitors to the natural beauty, peaceful environment and authentic village life of Kumai.
Through Kumai Gorkha Homestay, his vision is to provide travellers with a genuine family-homestay experience while creating awareness about the natural and cultural attractions of the region. His efforts focus on encouraging responsible tourism, supporting local communities and creating sustainable opportunities for the people of Kumai.
